Virtual Harmonium Online — Play Indian Classical Music Free

This free virtual harmonium lets you play authentic Indian classical music directly in your browser — no download, no sign-up required. The instrument faithfully recreates the warm, reedy timbre of a traditional pump harmonium (बाजा) with three full octaves: Mandra Saptak (low), Madhya Saptak (middle), and Taar Saptak (high). Whether you are a student learning Sargam notation, a singer practising ragas, or simply curious about Indian classical music, this web harmonium puts 30 keys at your fingertips.

The harmonium is at the heart of North Indian (Hindustani) and devotional music. Its reeds vibrate when air is pushed through the bellows — here simulated by pressing the SPACE bar — producing the rich, sustained tones that underpin classical concerts, bhajans, and riyaz (daily practice). Our Web Audio synthesis engine models the harmonics of real reed pipes, with optional hall reverb and chorus shimmer for a fuller studio sound. Enable Drone Sa to hold the tonic note continuously, just as a tanpura drone supports a vocalist.

Use Raga Mode to select from 14 classical ragas — Bhairav, Yaman, Bhairavi, Bhupali, Malkauns, Darbari, Todi, Marwa, Puriya, Bageshri, Kafi, Bilawal, Khamaj, and Kalyan. When a raga is active, its scale degrees are highlighted on the keyboard so you can immediately see which notes belong to the raga and which to avoid. This makes the virtual harmonium an ideal practice companion for vocalists and instrumentalists alike.
